  • Cosmetics'Most Hotly Contested Competition is Back

    The who's who of personal care flexed their muscles and battled it out to be crowned The Formulation Challenge Champions of 2019. The challenge run in association with, and judged by, Act Solutions Corp and Mintel made its triumphant return to the in-cosmetics North America stage in October for all to see.

     

  • Where? Formulation Lab
    When? October 23 - 03:45pm - 05:15pm

    Armed with a product brief and mystery box of personal care ingredients, the competitors were challenged to formulate a marketable finished product that consumers want to buy. In just 90 minutes, the teams demonstrated the precision of surgeons, the knowledge of chemists and show what it takes to create world-class personal care formulations.

    Who?

    Teams comprising four R&D professionals and two marketers, from top regional Cosmetic and Contract Manufacturers went head-to-head in the lab. For 2019, the teams were 2018 title-holders Shiseido as well as Colgate-Palmolive, Johnson and Johnson and Swiss American CDMO.

  • The Judges

    This year saw Belinda Carli hand over the reins to Mark Chandler - in-cosmetics North America’s new Technical Advisor, who set and judged the challenge alongside Mintel’s Sarah Jindal.

    The Winners
    The winner and runner-up will were unveiled by Mark Chandler at the in-cosmetics North America Awards at the show shortly after the Challenge finishes. The winners receive media accolade and took home an award recognizing them as best in class for 2019.
     
  • So who won?

    After tense deliberations, the winners were announced at the Awards at the show the very same day.
