    The sourcing, selection and purchasing of personal care ingredients is a lengthy process, and we understand that sometimes it is very challenging to get your product in front of the right people. The Formulation Challenge Mystery Box provides you with the perfect opportunity for your ingredients to be discovered by leading cosmetic and contract manufacturers.

    In a MasterChef style competition, these manufacturers are challenged to create a marketable product using a mystery box of ingredients. From ingredient evaluation to the science behind formulating a new product to creating a compelling marketing story for it - the entire new product development process is condensed into 90 minutes.

  • 2018 Competition in review:

    For the first time in 2018, the Formulation Challenge opened its doors to visitors to watch the action unfold in one of the most hotly contested annual competitions in the North American personal care market. Six teams of formulators and marketers from Colgate Palmolive, Estee Lauder, Johnson & Johnson, Swiss American CDMO, Shiseido and Unilever took on the challenge of creating a new marketable product in just 90 minutes from a mystery box of ingredients.

    Last year Shiseido were crowned the Formulation Challenge champions for their Triple P Primer product featuring ingredients from Tri-K, Jojoba Desert ,Lubrizol, Natura-Tec, Gattefosse, Mibelle Biochemistry, Bitop, Lipotec Active Ingredients and Sensient.
